The three mile run was almost enjoyable for a couple of reasons. Firstly I’d been itching to get back to this distance after having to take a week off and take it slower. I’d run three miles outside only once before (about four weeks ago) and really wanted to get another 3-miler under my belt.
I really like the sense of achievement that comes with reaching each new distance and it helps to keep me motivated. Running 2 miles was getting me down a bit because I felt like I’d gone backwards.
The other reason for enjoying the run was that I had a new surrounding. I was staying in central London on Friday night so Saturday morning I got up, put my kit on and ran the 3-mile route I’d mapped out which took me round Russell Square, through Holborn then up past King’s Cross and St Pancras.
Having different things to look at on my run made a lot of difference and I’ll definitely try and alter my routes more from now on.
This week the schedule says 2 miles, 3 miles and 4 miles. I’ve already done the 2-miler on the treadmill. The other two I’ll do on the road and I’m a bit nervous and a bit excited about my first attempt at 4 miles. Wish me luck!
