There’s a debate raging in the world of running as to whether being referred to as a jogger is an insult and what constitutes running rather than jogging. Every runner seems to have their own opinion on this which include speeds at which a jog becomes a run to mental attitude and whether you enter competitive races or not.

Here’s Lazy Girl’s thought on the matter.

The difference between jogging and running is all about the amount of effort you put in. So on Saturday I went for a 4.5 mile run at a 10 minute per mile pace. This meant I was going at a pace which didn’t leave me very out of breath and I had a very comfortable run. If you want to call it a jog, that’s fine by me.

To another person, and to me six months ago, doing 4.5 miles at 10 minute mile pace would have taken a great deal of effort and would very much have been running.

Last night, however, I ran for 2.5 miles as fast as my lazy little legs would carry me and, to my astonishment, managed a 8.30 minute mile pace. Now while this may be a jogging pace for, say, Paula Radcliffe – I was very much running.
