This weekend I ran 10 miles. I’ve run this far before but yesterday found it much more difficult. My right ankle was sore from wearing heels on Saturday night for the first time in months, but this wasn’t the main problem. What I found difficult was having no energy.
When I got home the problem soon became clear as I shoved three crumpets down my neck – I was hungry. The day before I had been out all day and hadn’t eaten as much as I normally would the day before my long run. I was low on energy and felt the consequences on my run.
So from here on in the mission is to make sure I’m eating enough both before and after my long runs. But not to eat too much junk.
