In drawing up my Top 10, I’ve given a lot of thought to how often I use an item and how inportant it is to my running when I use it. I don’t use gels very often – the last time I had one was when I chomped one down on the starting line of the South London 10K back in May. But they played a big part in my marathon training.
One of the reasons that SiS Go Gels make it into my Top 10 is that I know the difference a bad gel can make to your race and the difference that a bad gel can make. After running the last 3 miles of the Greast Eastern Run last October almost doubled up with stomach cramps because of a gel that didn’t suit me, I luckily found SiS Go Gels. They kept me going on the long runs in marathon training and stopped me from hitting the wall at the Brighton Marathon. And for that reason they deserve the number 8 spot. Having said that, what suits me might not suit everyone so experiment with your gels until you find something right for you.
