Some runners find find running on a treadmill boring, takes more physical effort than running on a road and takes more mental effort. While some like it others can’t stand it. But sometimes, because of the weather, time constraints or other factors running on a treadmill can’t be avoided. When you’re next staring at your own reflection in the gym mirror, churning out miles on the ‘dreadmill’ spare a though for Mike Buss.
I first became aware of Mike when I did the Brighton Marathon and heard that he was attempting to complete it in a full-on biological protection suit. Now he’s in the middle of a crazy but amazing attempt to run as many marathons in consecutive days as he can. For the past 54 days he’s hoped onto his treadmill and put in 26.2 miles without a day’s rest. He has already bagged himself a new world record and doesn’t plan on stopping until he has reached 100 consecutive marathon. Read more about him here. Although as this link is a few days old he’s now passed marathon 54. He’s doing it to raise money for Help for Heros and you can sponsor him here if you’d like.
Wow~ I’m not even ready for my first 10K yet and this guy is running Marathons on a Treadmill! OMG! So amazing! I’ll admit I don’t LOVE the treadmill, but it is my friend and I will use it when it’s 110 out or when the track is full. Sadly we don’t have any trails near my home otherwise I would use them on a “cooler” day. Thanks for the link!
Apparently he’s still going strong according to the odd tweets I’ve seen. I suppose he’s a bit busy to be updating the world every 5 mins.
