Form or function – what matters most when it comes to running kit? For me it’s function but that’s mainly because I’ll look a mess no matter what I’m wearing after 15 miles of running through mud, but asl long as I’m warm and have no blisters I won’t complain. But if you told me I could have both form and function, I’d be delighted and then ask you skeptically how much it would cost.
Two items have caught my eye recently for their design though. First the Reebok Zigtech shoes. They say “the unique geometric design of the Zigtech’s lightweight foam sole absorbs the impact of the heel strike, transferring the energy along the length of the sole. This propels you forward, promotes smooth toe-off and is designed to return energy to your legs and to help reduce muscle fatigue on your shins.” But they do look a bit funny. If I owned these I’d be seeking out muddy puddles to disguise them quick sharp.
Meanwhile the Nike+ SportWatch GPS was unveiled in January (out in April). This is a seriously good-looking watch which is giving me reason to consider cheating on my Garmin. Sure my Garmin Forerunner is nice enough, it’s dependable and comes with me wherever I want to go – but we’ve been together a long time and I don’t stare at it and think, how lucky am I to be going out running with that any more? Admit it – you want it too!
Tried on a pair of those ‘zig zag’ shoes the other day-surprisingly comfortable. Didn’t buy but would consider!
The watch does look good, very nice I wonder how it would perform?
esp as I am thinking of getting something like this for when I get running again
