I’m still in shock from last night’s grand finale. The show eased us in with the Red Team (mother and daughter voted off in the first week) who looked great. Yes, well done. Then it was on to the Orange Team – Joanne and Paul were billed as lazy ones throughout the first couple of episodes. But looks like they’ve put in a respectable weight loss since leaving. And they’ve got married. Congrats.
As it’s final night there’s a couple of changes to the weigh-in – most notably that the contestants are allowed to keep their T-shirts on. Oh, and they get to wear Spanx and a lot more make-up.
The Yellow Team are up next and they get the first proper ‘wow’. Claire, who was the heaviest woman on the show looks almost half the size she was. And she’s quit her job and become an aerobics instructor. Angie looks worried that her place in the next series is in jeopardy. Sarah is also unrecognisable. In fact I think it might be a different person.
There’s a holiday up for grabs for the contestant that lost the most weight out of those booted off. Sara lost 25% of her body weight, that’s at least a leg – and yet she still has two. Clare (I never wanted her to leave) lost 28%. Blimey.
Oh look it’s Big G and Rob. Big G had to have three month’s rest after dislocating his knee on day one – but he’s still managed to lose a couple of stone. Apples and nuts? Rob’s boxy jacket disguises his weight loss. He’s still dressing like he’s a fair bit bigger. Rob’s 20% weight loss fails to knock Clare off the lead and Clare gives him a look of “you voted me off but look who had the last laugh. Mwah ha ha”.
There’s barely time to compose yourself before Paddy appears strutting his 34 inch waist jeans. He looks half the size. But will he beat Clare? A huge 6stone 8lb lost – that’s 31% and he’s edged into lead.
Only Mark can win it now. Although he’s looking lovely and smiley and happy and has lost 7stone 2lb (22%), it’s not enough to win the holiday. So, Paddy wins holiday – I hope he takes Wil.
The finalists,Wil Karen and Zandella come back. I can’t explain how amazing they all look. Angie’s face has been set to ‘shocked’ for the past 45 minutes and she’s just raised her eyebrows another inch. Here’s the figures:
Karen went from 20st 5lb to 14st 11lb – 27% weight loss.
Zandella went from 19st 4lb to 14st 4lb – 25% weight loss.
Wil went from 24st 7lb to 16st – 34% weight loss.
So Wil wins. I’m crying, he’s crying, everyone’s hugging. I’m hoping that ITV2 will be showing a spin-off show of what happened when Paddy and Wil combined the £25k that Wil won with the holiday to Abu Dhabi that Paddy has. That would make my life complete.
Interesting! I reached 10 stone for probably the first time in my life last week at the age of 62.
I have to make sure I don’t lose weight. It’s not a pretty sight but then again…!!
Now you are a mud lover you would have revelled in the bogs on Ilkley Moor today. Take care,Terry
