I started by running up that hill (because it’s making me faster) to Wimbledon Village. (Excuse the blurry pictures and the fact that my arm is in half of them).
I ran through the village and down a steep hill. Now what goes down, must go up – so I’d have to run back this way which is why I don’t usually go this way. But I love hills now – or more honestly, I love that hills make me faster, so I ran down it and didn’t care. At the bottom I ran past he All England Lawn Tennis Club – that’s where Wimbledon is held every year.
I carried on past this and went into Wimbledon Park. I’ve never run round here before because I prefer the Common. I had a look at the running track which I’m yet to pluck up the courage to go train at with the big kids.
Then I carried on to the lake where I sat down for five minutes and watched a dog swim after the geese.
Then I headed back up the hill, back towards the village and to Starbucks where I rewarded myself with an iced latte and a cinnamon swirl. I think that’s the recommended treat for running 5 miles including two big hills.
Shortly after taking this picture a small dog came over and tried to steal my cinnamon swirl. He was unsuccessful. Just to be on the safe side I thought it wise to eat it as fast as I could – that’s my excuse for eating it in two bites. I stretched and then sat on the common for a while wondering what I should do with tomorrow’s day off. Same again?
Check out using that track, LGR.
Sure you could manage the 5 x1k session I did today at your 10K pace. Hard to do alone but great benefits for you! Go on, spoil yourself. All the best, Terry L.
Welcome to the wonderful world of photo-blogging!
Will second what Terry says about checking out that track if it’s easily accessible. While you’re doing that I’ll maybe check out the delights of iced latte and cinnamon swirls!
