Last week I caught myself telling my running group – a group of women new to running – that I can’t run in the mornings. I stopped myself. There’s a lot of things I thought I couldn’t do: swimming, cycling 100 miles, a half-ironman and have proved myself wrong. But because of a couple of early bad experiences, I still had it in my mind that I couldn’t run to work.
That’s just nonsense. So I set off to run to work last week, and I filmed my run too. I’m planning to film Frankfurt marathon so this was a trial run with the camera. Grab your sick bags because it’s a bit of a bumpy ride.
I wish I could run to work!
We liked watching you run to work Auntie Laura xx
I run to and from work a couple of times a week – so much less stressful than driving, the tube and even cycling!
Hey Laura! Every time I am in Chicago, I see runners on the streets turn into joggers as they have to continually stop and start due to traffic lights. How difficult was it maneuvering around people on the busy sidewalks?
I am like you – I have convinced myself that I am more likely to get injured if I train in the morning – based on nothing!! Also like you I did a 1/2 ironman this year and without training in the morning I couldn’t have got the hours in. Turned out I loved it!!!
This is exactly why I started running – I wanted to prove to myself I could do something that I always thought I couldn’t do, and it makes me feel invincible!
Good luck with learning to run in the morning! I bet all those early morning endorphins will make you feel like a superstar for the rest of the day!
Cracking pace overall, given the number of short stops you must have made.
Do you not think that it’s only really possible if you have a shower at work?
It depends how much you sweat. Babywipes may be an option?
