Despite saying I wasn’t going to attempt to do ALL THE RACES again this year, instead focussing on two main races, my calendar for 2014 seems to have quite a few events.
In fact the year is barely a week old and I’ve already clocked up an 10k race in Regent’s Park. It was supposed to be a litmus test of where my fitness is at going into a big training cycle. It ended up being a test of how fast I could run without vomitting after having a few too many pints of beer the night before. The answer is just a few seconds slower than I ran a 10K in torrential rain during the Olympics.
Despite various calculations telling me that 10k is my best distance, I’ve now done more marathons than I have 10k races. Maybe 2015 should be all about giving that two-year-old PB a bit of attention.
For now, the focus is one very big event that’s the exact opposite of the low-key, local 10k I did on a frosty Sunday last weekend. Ironman UK is looming and all things in my race calenar point to this. So here’s the races I’m doin this year. Say hello if you’re doing them too.

Good luck for your races.
YOU WILL BEAT THE CUT-OFF at IMUK.
October sounds very interesting.
Count me in for the SOMETHINGAMAZINGISHAPPENING.
Good Luck with all the races & from the sounds of it October will pretty amazing!
I cannot wait to hear about how you do! I really enjoy reading your blog, it really helps with motivating me to get out there and run!
October sounds both mysterious and exciting- and you will DEFINITELY finish before the Ironman cut off. You’ve got grit that would make Chrissie proud.
Laura – you’ll be great with the ironman stuff. I read Andy Holgates book and did Marlow Half as my first tri and then the full Challenge Henley (which was the first ever marathon distance run I’d done). I’m doing Grafman too, it looks a good event.
You will be brilliant at the Ironman. Fact.
Will definitely come and say hello at Ealing if I see you. Make sure your group is strong on hills – there are a few rolling undulations but nothing too dramatic. Can’t say enough what a lovely race this is.
