Yesterday the gray and miserable weather was not making it easy for me to get excited about the 3 mile run I was supposed to be doing. I sat at my desk toying with the idea of putting it off a day but, as I got to my front door, the clouds that had been threatening to unleash a storm all day were yet to break.

I hurried upstairs and put on my kit, determined that if I could get out and get into my stride before the rain started I could probably put up with a 10-minute soaking. As I got through the first mile the few spots of rain that had been chasing me down the road subsided and it became slightly sunny.

The next mile seemed to fly by and before I knew it I was heading up the home straight. The last half mile was a struggle and had me panting as I finished but it wasn’t nearly as hard as those first few step that got me out of the door.
