The sun certainly had his hat on yesterday – unfortunately I didn’t, as you may remember I threw my cap into the crowd on the home straight of the Brighton Marathon and haven’t got round to buying a replacement. This I came to regret yesterday when I lined up for the start of the South London 10k in what officials are contemplating renaming as the Heatwave 10,000.
All chances of a dramatic 10K PB were off from the very start. Despite setting off at 9.15am the mercury was already in the mid 20s and climbing. With little shade available and the half-way hill looking larger than ever, we were all forced to reign in our expectations and back off the pace.
But a PB was what I came for and that’s exactly what I did. So, drumroll please…. 54 minutes. It was a fast crowd and although I came 100 and something overall I did come 30th ish out of the women. I don’t know if this says something good about me or something about the number of women in the race but I’m patting myself on the back all the same.
So with my legs bearly aching today I’ve signed up for my second year of running the Great Eastern Run. It’s a half marathon around my home town of Peterborough. Flat as a pancake and really well organised. If you’re looking for a PB, give it a go.
Hi,
I’m writing a feature for the Sportsister magazine website (www.sportsister.com) about internet blogs written by sporty women. I have really enjoyed reading your blog and wondered if I might be able to write about it in my feature?
I would basically give an overview of what the blog is about along with a link to your blog so our readers can visit your page. If that sounds good to you please let me know. Also would it be possible to include photos from the blog to go with the feature?
Thanks for your time and if that sounds good to you please email me at cjknight4@googlemail.com,
Kind Regards,
Chris Knight
